Being essentially a hill sheep, the North Country Cheviot is well suited to the harsh Welsh climate of Bryn Melyn Farm.
The North Country Cheviot is a very versatile breed, strong willed and very. The breed originally evolved in the Scottish Highlands and there the ewes usually had to lamb alone. As a result, North Country Cheviot ewes deliver lambs easily and have a great mothering instinct. The lambs themselves are on their feet within minutes and have a strong will for survival.
The fine wool of the North Country Cheviot is long, deep and white, and free from kemp.
