I started keeping honeybees 40 years ago with one hive that I inherited from my uncle. It was relatively easy to keep bees when I lived in the Towy Valley surrounded with lots of gardens full of flowers . It has been a lot more difficult since moving 900 ft above sea level on my present farm as there was very little foraging for the honeybees because most of the land around was either grass or spruce trees neither of which is any use to honeybees . I have studied the flowers that honeybees visit and have planted enough flowers for there pollen and nectar needs throughout the foraging season .
